    Las bronquiectasias son la dilatación irreversible y anormal de los bronquios y constituyen el estadio final del daño pulmonar que causan diversas patologías.

    El tratamiento antibiótico en aerosol en estos pacientes puede ser fundamental, y es por ello por lo que vamos a ver las diferentes presentaciones que existen en el mercado.

    Actualmente, están en marcha estudios con nuevas formulaciones de antibióticos inhalados como: gentamicina, tobramicina, amikacina, colistimetato de sodio, ceftazidima y vancomicina. Su eficacia viene determinada también por el nebulizador utilizado.

    Muchos estudios nos aportan información prometedora respecto al tratamiento con antibióticos inhalados.

    Los principales inconvenientes de los antibióticos inhalados son el coste y el tiempo que requiere su administración.

    Bronchiectasis is the irreversible and abnormal dilation of the bronchi and constitutes the final stage of lung damage caused by various pathologies.

    Aerosol antibiotic treatment in these patients can be essential, and that is why we are going to see the different presentations that exist on the market.

    Studies are currently underway with new formulations of inhaled antibiotics such as: gentamicin, tobramycin, amikacin, colistimethate sodium, ceftazidime, and vancomycin. Its effectiveness is also determined by the nebulizer used.

    Many studies provide us with promising information regarding treatment with inhaled antibiotics.

    The main drawbacks of inhaled antibiotics are the cost and the time required to administer them.
