Resumen de Redesigning post-pandemic education: challenges and opportunities for animal pedagogies concerning LOMLOE

La manera en la que nos relacionamos con los otros animales ha quedado en evidencia una vez más esta vez a partir de la pandemia de COVID-19. Acciones humanas directa o indirectamente vinculadas a la relación humano-animal contribuyen al riesgo de aparición de enfermedades zoonóticas, así como a otras emergencias globales como la crisis climática. Sin embargo, articular el cuestionamiento de la relación humano-animal exclusivamente desde la perspectiva de las necesidades humanas implica dar la espalda a la consideración y trato desfavorable injustificado de los animales no humanos en la sociedad. En esta línea, la cuestión de los derechos animales no ocupa un espacio relevante en el contexto educativo. Este articulo plantea una aproximación a la pregunta de cómo rediseñar la enseñanza y el aprendizaje sobre la relación humano-animal ante el nuevo escenario normativo que plantea la LOE modificada por la LOMLOE. En primer lugar, se justifica la necesidad de considerar aproximaciones pedagógicas que reconozcan las implicaciones éticas y educativas de la sintiencia animal. A continuación, se analizan las oportunidades y las limitaciones que plantean diferentes escenarios de comprensión pedagógica con relación a los requerimientos de la “LOMLOE” en materia de respeto y empatía hacia los animales no humanos.

The way in which we relate to other animals has once again come to the fore, this time in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Human actions directly or indirectly linked to the human-animal relationship contribute to the risk of zoonotic diseases, as well as to other global emergencies such as the climate crisis. However, articulating the questioning of the human-animal relationship exclusively from the perspective of human needs implies turning our backs on the unjustified disadvantageous consideration and treatment of non-human animals in society. In this line, animal rights issues do not occupy a relevant space in the educational context. This article poses an approach to the question of how to redesign teaching and learning about the human-animal relationship in the new regulatory scenario posed by the LOE as amended by the LOMLOE. Firstly, this article justifies the need to consider pedagogical approaches that recognize the ethical and educational implications of animal sentience. Then, the opportunities and limitations posed by different scenarios of pedagogical understanding in relation to the requirements of the "LOMLOE" in terms of respect and empathy towards non-human animals are analyzed.
