In this article, I show the transformation of haṭha-yoga over time and to what extent the interpretations of contemporary yoga schools (more therapeutic and scientific) adopt or not elements of pre-modern haṭha-yoga. To do this, I present, on the one hand, the features of medieval haṭha-yoga, especially the tantric interpretation of the nāths. On the other hand, I expose the contemporary development: the pioneering adaptations of Swami Kuvalayananda and Sri Yogendra in colonial times; the transnational example of the Bihar School of Yoga, already in post-colonial times; and I end with one of the latest trends in contemporary yoga: Yin Yoga.
