  La infección de orina se produce con frecuencia entre la población de cualquier edad, y en cualquier momento, de hecho, es después de las infecciones respiratorias el segundo grupo en importancia en cuanto a las infecciones extrahospitalarias se refiere.

  Son por tanto una causa de consulta en atención primaria bastante recurrente ya que a menudo tienden a repetirse estos procesos infecciosos.

  En la época estival con la llegada de las vacaciones, las piscinas, los ríos y el mar, pueden llegar a ser los causantes de infecciones de orina, ya bien sea por frío en la zona o por la humedad permanente que nos ocasionan los trajes de baño en las zonas afectadas.
