  • Resumen
    • ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to find out first-generation faculty and staff at Kansas State University to gain a better understanding of their unique challenges and needs to better support current first-generation college students and faculty on their academic pursuits. One hundred and nineteen current faculty, staff, and administrators who considered themselves first-generation students were surveyed through Qualtrics software. The data of this survey was analyzed by using the SPSS software package. One of the most significant findings of this study was that participants who were not involved in extracurricular activities viewed themselves as less successful than those who did. From the significant results of this study, the Teaching and Learning Center designed several faculty development opportunities for faculty, graduate students, and staff on campus to discuss about the topic and find ways on how to help first -generation students succeed.
