Hablar del individuo implica hablar de un ser que posee libre albedrío. En esta temática las ideas expuestas por Santo Tomás pueden ayudar comprender cómo se presenta la libertad tanto en los hombres, los ángeles y Dios, además de evidenciar su relación con otras facultades del alma. Este artículo, mediante el método hermenéutico, buscará evidenciar cómo se desarrolla el libre albedrío en la obra de Santo Tomás; por consiguiente, se intentará concluir que este se presenta de diversos modos según el ser en el cual se desarrolle; así no es lo mismo el libre albedrío en Dios que en el hombre.

To speak of the individual implies speaking of a being that possesses free will. In this subject, the ideas presented by St. Thomas can help to understand how freedom is present in men, angels and God, as well as to show its relationship with other faculties of the soul. This article, by means of the hermeneutic method, will seek to show how free will develops in the work of St. Thomas, in addition to trying to conclude that it is presented in different ways according to the being in which it is developed, so free will is not the same in God as in man.
