I. Tureková, M. Šebo, Natália Turčeková

  • These days, in fact, it is rare to find a working environment where Display Screen Equipment (DSE) is not used. A variety of ill-health symptoms is associated with intensive work with DSE, including musculoskeletal disorders (upper limb disorders; backache), mental stress and visual fatigue. In the article, the authors used a questionnaire method, and they evaluated the visual problems of office employees who work mainly with computers. They observed the chosen workplace from the ergonomic point of view, as well. Subsequently, they compared the obtained results with the data published in health studies. They found out several shortcomings in employees` work with computers. In the proposed recommendations, the authors focus on education and instruction for safe work with computers. At the end, they emphasize that safe work with computers should be part of every education in the school system at the moment when pupils start using computers. Experience in the education system shows the bad habits of working with a computer acquired in childhood.
