In this research, it is proposed to compare the level of depression in relation to the type of geographic location (urban or rural), using the Yesavage Geriatric Depression Scale. The research design is quantitative and cross-sectional comparative. The data are analyzed with the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) program and applying Pearson’s Chi-square. The research results denote the presence of depression in both sectors, however, there is a higher incidence in the urban area with levels from almost high to very high with 48.7%.
