    El encuentro Internacional de Escritores de 1962 en Concepción, en donde Thiago de Mello y Carolina María de Jesús expusieron como representantes de la literatura de Brasil, es considerado hoy como una reunión con carácter inaugural e histórico (Bradú, 2019). Para Carlos Fuentes, es en esta reunión en donde se genera el inicio del boom de la literatura latinoamericana, movimiento que sólo fue posible bajo el contexto que reunió a tanto a críticos como escritores. Este Encuentro, no sólo tuvo alcances en la reflexión estético-literaria, sino que se vio enriquecido por las voces de nuevas subjetividades autoriales, por el debate marcadamente político entre estos autores y por la reflexión sobre los límites de la libertad de expresión social. Dentro de este ambiente germinal, las posturas de ambos escritores brasileros dan cuenta de tales tensiones e intensidades y son testimonio del intercambio político y cultural entre Chile y Brasil durante la década del sesenta del siglo XX.

    The 1962 International Writers Meeting in Concepción, where Thiago de Mello and Carolina María de Jesús spoke as representatives of Brazilian literature, is considered today as an inaugural and historic meeting (Bradú, 2019). For Carlos Fuentes, it is in this meeting that the start of the Latin American literature boom is generated, a movement that was only possible under the context that brought together critics and writers alike. ThisEncounter, not only had scope in the aesthetic-literary reflection, but was enriched by the voices of new authorial subjectivities, by the markedly political debate between these authors and by the reflection on the limits of the freedom of social expression. Within this germinal environment, the positions of both Brazilian writers account for such tensions and intensities and are testimony to the political and cultural exchange between Chile and Brazil during the sixties of the twentieth century.
