The article traces the classical and innovative concepts and practical forms of realization of non-formal adult education. The basic starting points for its implementation are analyzed, as well as new challenges in the context of content, methods, techniques, approaches and forms of organization. The report emphasizes the importance of adult education as a key factor in their development. The trends in its development are outlined as a result of the dynamics in socio-economic conditions, the development of the knowledge society, the globalization of social systems and the disappearance of the borders between formal and non-formal education observed in recent years. The article presents the current criteria and conditions for the effectiveness of non-formal adult education, including strategies for the formation of specific key competences, the use of technologies that promote personal growth and approaches to facilitate adults in their adaptation to internal and external changes in the socio-cultural environment.
