El objetivo del tratamiento quirúrgico de la triquiasis portracoma es prevenir la pérdida de visión, pero el elevado número de recidivas postoperatoriassuponeun gran desafío. En el presente artículo se investigala hipótesis de que la doxiciclina oral podría reducir el riesgo de recidivas de triquiasis postoperatoria. Se encontró que no redujo el riesgo de lasmismasy,por lo tanto, no está indicadadespués de la cirugía de esta patología.

The objective of the surgical treatment oftrachoma trichiasisis to prevent the loss of vision; but the increase in the number of postoperative recurrences is a great challenge. In the present article we investigate the hypothesis that oral doxycycline could reduce the risk of relapses of postoperative trichiasis. It was foundthat it did not reduce the risk and, therefore, it is not indicated after the surgery of this pathology.
