  The article aims to discuss the challenges facing higher education in the context of pandemic and emergency remote education (ERE), starting from the reality experienced in the presence graduated training in Social Work, in a state public institution. Resolutions and regulations on the ERE, approved by the collegiate bodies of the University, were used, as well as documents/reports produced by the Collegiate of the Social Service Course and Structuring Teaching Nucleus (NDE) in relation to the monitoring of the ERE and the survey carried out by ABEPSS with the Social Work courses in Brazil. Given the context, it can be said that the pandemic has aggravated the precariousness already experienced and opened space for the massive installation of distance education. The Social Work course had to follow institutional guidelines and adhere to emergency remote education, as the only possibility to maintain its direction of defense of life. From the data collected, it is evident that there were direct implications for the teaching work, the organization of academic activities and the life and mental health conditions of students.

  O artigo tem como objetivo debater os desafios que se colocam ao ensino superior no contexto pandêmico e de ensino remoto emergencial (ERE), partindo da realidade vivenciada na formação graduada presencial em Serviço Social, em uma instituição pública estadual. Foram utilizadas as resoluções e normativas sobre o ERE, aprovadas pelas instâncias colegiadas da Universidade, além de documentos/relatórios produzidos pelo Colegiado do Curso de Serviço Social e Núcleo Docente Estruturante (NDE) em relação ao monitoramento do ERE e do levantamento realizado pela ABEPSS com os cursos de Serviço Social no Brasil. Diante do contexto, pode-se afirmar que a pandemia agravou a precarização já vivenciada e abriu espaço para instalação massiva do ensino a distância. O curso de Serviço Social teve que seguir orientações instituições e aderir ao ensino remoto emergencial, enquanto única possibilidade de manter sua direção de defesa da vida. A partir dos dados levantados, evidencia-se que houve implicações diretas no trabalho docente, na organização das atividades acadêmicas e na condição de vida e saúde mental dos discentes.
