    Discussing the educational project, together with the concept of discipline as well as the formation of thebourgeois man, based on John Locke ((1632-1704) is the goal of this article. In order to reach this goal it wasmade a comprehensive reading and analysis of his main book, Pensamientos sobre la educación. This work isjustified by the fact that John Locke and all his intellectual production represent the first great theoreticalconstruction that provided tolls to Education to the purposes of the liberal society, influencing up to today theorganization of the pedagogical process of the western world. Studying what Lock thought about that topicwas important to notice how this Philosopher deeply influenced Education during the time he lived, speciallythrough the innovations that he trigged in the educational major like: abolishing the physical punishment,giving freedom and autonomy to the student, giving special attention to children, bringing respect to discipli-ne. It is important to give important attention to the thoughts of this Philosopher influenced, to a certainextent, the Education in our times.

    Discutir o projeto de educação associada à concepção de disciplina e à formação do homem burguês, no pensamento de John Locke (1632-1704), é o propósito deste trabalho. Para atender a esse objetivo, foi realizada a leitura, interpretação e análise de sua principal obra, Pensamientos sobre la educación. O trabalho justificase pelo fato de John Locke e o conjunto de sua produção representarem a primeira grande construção teórica de instrumentalização da educação para os propósitos da sociedade liberal, exercendo, até a atualidade, influência na organização do processo pedagógico do mundo ocidental. Estudar o pensamento de Locke foi importante para perceber como esse filósofo influenciou profundamente a educação na época em que viveu, principalmente, pelas inovações que desencadeou no campo educacional, como: abolição dos castigos, liberdade e autonomia do educando, atenção especial à criança, respeito à disciplina. Ressalta-se que o pensamento desse filósofo influenciou, em certa medida, a educação dos tempos atuais.
