En el otoño de 1769 la comunidad capuchina de Sevilla dedicó una octava en honor del nuevo santo Serafín de Montegranario y, seguidamente, un triduo al recién considerado beato Bernardo de Corleone. La historia institucional que años más tarde escribió el cronista fray Ángel de León ofrece una relación –aquí transcrita–, de estas fiestas, rica en detalles como el de la autoría del ornato dispuesto entonces –obra del pintor Francisco Miguel Jiménez–, o la relación de comitentes y promotores artísticos que contribuyeron a dar lustre a unos cultos que sirvieron para reafirmar la importancia de la orden capuchina en Sevilla, decidida a ocupar el vacío espiritual que dejaron los jesuitas tras su expulsión de los territorios españoles tan solo dos años antes.

In the autumn of 1769 the Capuchin community of Seville devoted an octave in honour of the new saint Seraphim of Montegranario and then a triduum to the newly considered beatus Bernard of Corleone. The institutional history written years later by the chronicler Brother Ángel de León offers a detailed series of facts about such festivities –transcribed below– such as the authorship of the ornament arranged at the time by the painter Francisco Miguel Jiménez, or the record of the patrons and artistic promoters who contributed to add prestige to cults which supported the reinforcement of the Capuchin order in Seville, who were determined to fill the spiritual void left by the Jesuits after their expulsion from Spanish territories just two years earlier.
