L’impacte de la revolució de 1820 i la “branca meridional” del liberalisme europeu

    Les revolucions de 1820 als països mediterranis, tot i que han segut desateses per molts historiadors europeus, foren seguides de ben a prop pels coetanis a tot arreu del continent, per tal com tingueren un impacte important en l’ordenament europeu, que tot just s’havia establert arran del Congrés de Viena. Aquest article analitza tres aspectes clau de les revolucions: en primer lloc, el transvasament d’idees i institucions polítiques entre els diversos estats revolucionaris, allò que avançava l’origen del govern parlamentari; en segon lloc, l’intercanvi transnacional d’individus i grups, que es pot veure com un esquema de la Internacional de les revolucions liberals a Europa; en tercer lloc, la idea de les revolucions mediterrànies, que qüestiona el concepte tradicional de centre i perifèria en la història de les idees, sobretot a partir de la decisiva contribució de la Constitució espanyola de 1812.

    Neglected by many modern European historians, the 1820s revolutions in the Mediterranean were followed closely all over the continent by their contemporaries since they had an important impact on the newly established European order after the Congress of Vienna.

    The article analyses three central aspects of the revolutions: first, the transfer of political ideas and institutions between the revolutionary states, anticipating the origins of parliamentary government; second, the transnational exchange of individuals and groups that might be interpreted as an outline of a revolutionary liberal International in Europe;

    and third, the notion of the Mediterranean revolutions questioning the traditional concept of centre and periphery in the history of ideas, especially by the fundamental contribution of the Spanish Constitution of 1812.
