Desde el siglo XIII tenemos constancia de la cría de halcones, para la caza, criados a orillas del Mar Menor. En el siglo XV los halconeros reales serán los Carrillo y Calvillo, Señores de Cotillas. Por otra parte, la costa será muy insegura, por ataques berberiscos, entre los siglos XV y XVII.

From the 13th century we have evidence of the breeding of falcons, for hunting, raised on the shores of the Mar Menor. In the fifteenth century the royal falconers will be the Carrillo and Calvillo, Señores de Cotillas. On the other hand, the coast was very insecure due to Berber attacks between the 15th and 17th centuries.
