Resumen de Gorbachov: Un retrato

En este artículo se analiza el significado político de la vida de Mijaíl Gorbachov (1931-1922), secretario general del Comité Central del Partido Comunista de la Unión Soviética (1985-1991), jefe de Estado de la Unión Soviética (1988-1991) y Premio Nobel de la Paz (1990). En el mismo, se reflejan las opiniones irreconciliables sobre Gorbachov: por un lado, se le ensalza como un “libertador”, un “demócrata”, el hombre que liberó al mundo —aunque fuera temporalmente— de la pesadilla de la guerra atómica; por otro lado, se le tacha de “traidor” y “pelele”.

This article analyzes the political significance of the life of Mikhail Gorbachev (1931-1922), General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1985-1991), Head of State of the Soviet Union (1988-1991) and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate (1990). It reflects the irreconcilable opinions about Gorbachev: on the one hand, he is praised as a “liberator”, a “democrat2, the man who freed the world —even temporarily— from the nightmare of the atomic war; on the other hand, he is branded as a “traitor” and a “wimp”.
