  • Resumen
    • In a selection farm 372 farrowings from Landrace sows were controlled, while 1,362 farrowings from crossbreed Large White x Landrace sows from a production farm were also controlled. Both farms are located in Aragón (Spain) (40º, 55’, 31’’ N). In the two farms the mating-prenancy and maternity housings are cooled by means of cooling pads Effects of farm and mating season on reproductive results were studied. The reproductive results from Landrace sows from the selection farm were significantly better (P< 0.05) than those of the crossbreed Large White x Landrace sows from the production farm. The sows that were mated during the spring or summer had a fertility significantly lower (P<0.05) and a weaningto-conception interval significantly longer (P <0.05) than those that were mated in autumn and winter. The interaction farm x mating season was not significant for most reproductive variables. Positive and significant (P<0.05) relations between stillborn piglets and prolificacy and between preweanig mortality and live born piglets were observed.
