El capital humano del profesor universitario: diagnóstico y propuesta de mejora

      Artículo publicado en octubre de 2005.El concepto de capital humano procede de la necesidad de redimensionar el aporte del ser humano a los procesos de productividad (Acevedo, et at 2000), así como de determinar políticas para su desarrollo y justificar las inversiones requeridas. El objetivo de este trabajo es describir el capital humano (potencial intelectual, potencial social, potencial emocional y potencial de salud) del profesor universitario para determinar su relación con el clima organizacional. Este estudio exploratorio toma como muestra no probabilística a 30 académicos de tiempo completo del área académico-administrativa de una institución de educación superior. La hipótesis de relación entre las variables en estudio se confirma y se presenta una propuesta con enfoque de Desarrollo Humano basado en Competencias.AbstractThe purpose of the present study was to explore a model to describe human capital of university professors and to examine its relationship with organizational climate. Human capital was conceptualized in terms of four dimensions of potencial: Intelectual, Social, Emotional and Helth. Organizational climate was examined through the following set o variables: Personal Contribution, Work as a Challenge, Recognition, Superior's Support, Task Support, Socio — emotional Support, Work Autonomy. A correlation analysis was performed and several results of interest were obtained. A significant relation was observed between climate and human capital, which supports de idea that both realities covariate and, even more, organizational climate seems to have significant effects on perceptions and evaluations done by professors about their human capital conditions.
