      El amor por los gadgets: en invierno de 2013, me hice consciente de la pesadilla de Einstein, un meme de internet, un fragmento de información, que refleja el horror de lo que llamo en este artículo distopía tecnológica. El meme, titulado La peor pesadilla de Einstein (“Einstein’s Worst Nightmare”) explica que “¡el día que Albert Einstein temía ha llegado!”. Tras el pantallazo, seis imágenes mostraban a personas en varios escenarios colectivos: Tomando café con amigos, en un día en la playa, animando a su equipo deportivo, en una cita íntima, disfrutando del paisaje, compartiendo una cena: donde sea que se dan estos eventos comunales o sociales, la mediación tecnológica irrumpe. Las personas en cada una de esas imágenes están distraídas, se aferran a sus gadgets, observan sus pantallas, se pierden en sus mediaciones. Están inmersos en sus iPhones, smartphones y otros aparatos e ignoran la presencia de sus amigos y familiares. Al final del meme hay una cita de Einstein y allí leemos los detalles de su pesadilla: “Temo el día en el cual la tecnología sobrepase nuestra interacción humana. El mundo tendrá una generación de idiotas”.

      he love of gadgets: In winter 2013, I became aware of Einstein's nightmare, an internet meme, a piece of information, reflecting the horror of what I call in this article technological dystopia. The meme, titled Einstein's Worst Nightmare (“Einstein’s Worst Nightmare”) explains that “the day that Albert Einstein feared has arrived!”. After the screenshot, six images showed people in various collective settings: having coffee with friends, on a day at the beach, cheering on their sports team, on an intimate date, enjoying the scenery, sharing a dinner: wherever they happen to be. these communal or social events, technological mediation breaks in. The people in each of these images are distracted, they cling to their gadgets, they watch their screens, they get lost in their mediations. They are immersed in their iPhones, smartphones and other gadgets and ignore the presence of their friends and family. At the end of the meme there is a quote from Einstein and there we read the details of his nightmare: “I fear the day when technology surpasses our human interaction.
