Características maternas y del recién nacido según edad materna: Salta Capital. Argentina. Años 2002-2011

    Introducción: La adolescencia comprende el período entre los 10 y los 19 años de edad. En la provincia de Salta en 2019, se registraron un 16,1% de nacidos vivos producto de embarazos adolescentes.

    Material y Métodos: El presente estudio fue de tipo analítico, de casos y controles, comparativo entre 9474 madres adolescentes y 9474 madres con edad sin riesgo reproductivo (ESRR) con el fin de identificar los factores de riesgo asociados a la edad en el embarazo. Las variables estudiadas fueron: antecedente de aborto, estatura materna, momento de captación, adecuación de controles prenatales, edad gestacional, IMC pregestacional, Apgar, peso al nacer y tamaño del RN. La información se procesó en el paquete estadístico SPSS versión 21. Se realizó análisis de medidas de tendencia central, distribución de porcentaje de las variables y chi-2.

    Resultados: Se encontró una proporción de embarazadas de 8% con 15 años o menos, la más joven tenía 11 años. La edad media fue de 17,55 años ± 1,35 en adolescentes, mientras que en el grupo de madres ESRR, fue de 25,75 años ± 3,11. Los porcentajes de captación tardía, edad gestacional pre término, bajo peso pregestacional materno, de bajo peso y peso insuficiente al nacer, y RN PEG, fueron mayores en adolescentes que en madres ESRR.

    Conclusiones: Se encontraron diferencias significativas en los factores maternos biológicos (estatura, antecedentes de aborto, IMC pregestacional), del proceso de atención (momento de captación, adecuación del número de controles prenatales) y en el peso y tamaño de los RN, entre madres adolescentes y madres con edad sin riesgo reproductivo. Por el contrario no se observaron diferencias significativas en la edad gestacional y Apgar entre ambos grupos.

    Adolescence includes the period between 10 and 19 years of age. In the province of Salta in 2019, 16.1% of live births were registered as a result of adolescent pregnancies.

    Material and Methods: The present study was of an analytical type, of cases and controls, comparing 9474 adolescent mothers and 9474 mothers with age without reproductive risk (ESRR) in order to identify risk factors associated with age in pregnancy. The variables studied were: history of abortion, maternal height, time of uptake, adequacy of prenatal controls, gestational age, pre-pregnancy BMI, Apgar, birth weight and size of the NB. The information was processed in the statistical package SPSS version 21. An analysis of measures of central tendency, percentage distribution of the variables and chi2 was performed.

    Results: A proportion of 8% pregnant women aged 15 years or less was found, the youngest was 11 years old. The mean age was 17.55 years ± 1.35 in adolescents, while in the group of ESRR mothers, it was 25.75 years ± 3.11. The percentages of late uptake, pre-term gestational age, low maternal pre-pregnancy weight, low birth weight and insufficient weight, and RN PEG, were higher in adolescents than in ESRR mothers.

    Conclusions: Significant differences were found in biological maternal factors (height, history of abortion, pre-pregnancy BMI), of the care process (moment of capture, adequacy of the number of prenatal controls) and in the weight and size of the newborns, between mothers adolescents and mothers of age without reproductive risk. On the other hand, no significant differences were observed in gestational age between both groups.
