    Para adentrarse en la lectura de los diarios de José Donoso, este trabajo reconstruye la ubicación de los géneros referenciales en la tradición chilena y su falta de reconocimiento cuando empieza la escritura de su primer cuaderno en 1950. Desde este contexto, más bien resistente a este tipo de escritura, se propone explorar en los propios diarios del autor conservados en archivos de la Universidad de Iowa y de Princeton, la relación del narrador chileno con las escrituras del yo, sus reflexiones,influencias, así como las motivaciones que lo impulsaron a mantener la escritura diarística durante cuarenta y cinco años (1950-1995).

    In order to enter into the reading of José Donoso's diaries, this paper reconstructs the location of the referential genres in the Chilean tradition and their lack of recognition when he began writing his first notebook in 1950. From this context, rather resistant to this type of writing, it is proposed to explore in Donoso's own diaries preserved in the archives of the University of Iowa and Princeton, the relationship of the Chilean narrator with the writings of the self, his reflections, influences as well as the motivations that prompted him to maintain diary writing for forty five years (1950-1995).
