Resumen de Avisos y relaciones manuscritos e impresos sobre catástrofes naturales y sucesos prodigiosos en Sicilia en la primera mitad del siglo XVIII

En el siglo XVIII abundan las narraciones tanto manuscritas como de forma impresa que describen diferentes acontecimientos prodigiosos o infaustos : monstruosidades, eclipses o tormentas, inundaciones, terremotos, erupciones, etc. Estos relatos, con respecto a Sicilia, se encuentran expresados en singulares avisos y relaciones, pero, otras veces, están inclusos en series o diarios organizados con diferentes criterios (topográfico/cronológico/temático).Los documentos que quedan en archivos y bibliotecas ofrecen algunas ocasiones para profundizar el estudio de las cuestiones que atañen a la circulación y difusión de las noticias sobre un mismo evento, su credibilidad, sus caracteres formales y de contenido.En esta contribución se van a utilizar unos impresos muy raros y documentación manuscrita proveniente sobre todo de bibliotecas de Palermo y Catania

In the eighteenth century there is a large number of stories, both handwritten and in print, that describe extraordinary and unlucky events of different kinds : monstrosities, eclipses, or storms, floods, earthquakes, eruptions, etc. These stories, with respect to Sicily, take the form of occasional printed news, although sometimes they may be included in serials organized by different criteria (topographic/chronological/subject). Surviving documents in archives and libraries offer some opportunities to deepen the study of issues concerning the circulation and dissemination of news about the same event, their credibility, their formal characters and content. Very rare printed ephemera and handwritten documentation, mainly from libraries in Palermo and Catania, are used in this contribution.
