Decidir and decidirse. Epistemic model of the speaker This paper analyses the difference in meaning between the Spanish verb “decidir”, meaning ‘to decide’, and its pronominal form “decidirse”, a difference that seems to imply the epistemic model of the speaker. In order to analyse this difference on theoretical terms, two parameters of general linguistics will be briefly and concisely presented, one related to the utterance (actantial structure) and the other to the enunciation (deixis). In the following, different examples will be presented with the two verb forms which demonstrate the different involvement of the speaker with what is stated with one and the other verb form.

Questo breve articolo analizza la differenza di significato tra il verbo "decidir", 'decidere', e la sua forma pronominale "decidirse", 'decidersi', che, come verrà mostrato, sembra essere legata al modello epistemico del parlante. Per analizzare questa differenza su basi teoriche, verranno presentati brevemente due parametri della linguistica generale relativi all'enunciato (la struttura attanziale) e all'enunciazione (la deixis).
