    Los bienes históricos-patrimoniales atesoran un legado de generaciones anteriores. Para preservar o realizar acciones de intervención proyectual comprometida con dicho testimonio, resulta inevitable su análisis en contexto. La investigación previa permite definir su rol histórico, valor simbólico, y su aporte a la memoria.

    El Anfiteatro Martín Fierro de La Plata, que forma parte del Paseo del Bosque desde mediados del siglo XX, requiere para su reinserción en la vida contemporánea de una intervención integral que contemple, entre otras cuestiones, su huella histórica y singulares valores.

    Se desarrolla un estudio documental, de relevamiento y análisis histórico del patrimonio cultural arquitectónico del Anfiteatro, para abordar las distintas variables que intervinieron en su construcción, desde lo físico urbano-ambiental, socio-cultural, político-económico y arquitectónico; y la definición de sus diversas escalas: como pieza arquitectónica, como parte del paisaje y como establecimiento cultural de la ciudad.

    Analizar su génesis y posibles contradicciones permite indagar los motivos por los cuales un Anfiteatro construido en 1949 es ajeno a las innovaciones escénicas de las vanguardias de comienzos de siglo y a la arquitectura moderna en general, y asimismo un espacio innovador, referente cultural de la sociedad platense que merece su rehabilitación, actualización y consecuente permanencia.

    Historical-patrimonial assets treasure the legacy of previous generations. Therefore, an analysis in context is essential to preserve or carry out project interventions committed to this testimony. Preliminary research allows defining their historical role, symbolic value, and contribution to memory.

    The Martín Fierro Amphitheatre in La Plata, which is part of the Paseo del Bosque since the middle of the 20th century, requires a comprehensive intervention for its reintegration into contemporary life that contemplates, among other issues, its historical footprint and unique values.

    Surveying and analysing historically the architectural cultural heritage of the Amphitheatre, a documentary research is developed to address the different variables     – such as urban-environmental, sociocultural, political-economical and architectural – that intervened in its construction; and the definition of its various layers: as an architectural piece, as part of the landscape and as a cultural landmark in the city.

    Analysing its genesis and possible contradictions allows us to investigate why an amphitheatre built in 1949 is foreign to the scenic innovations of the avant-garde of the beginning of the century and modern architecture in general. As well as an innovative space, cultural landmark for La Plata society that deserves its rehabilitation, updating and consequent perpetuity.
