    El presente artículo muestra la rotación de élites existente en el Congresode la República de Guatemala durante las siete legislaturas que hantenido lugar desde la nueva Constitución de 1985. El objetivo del textoes mostrar al lector si el sistema político guatemalteco ha sido capaz deencontrar un camino de estabilidad política y llegar así a la tan ansiadaconsolidación democrática. Para medir dicha consolidación el artículoutiliza como marco teórico referencial el aporte conceptual desarrolladopor Leonardo Morlino. Además, el texto muestra el proceso de investigaciónimplementado por el equipo de trabajo. Se pretende detallar elnúmero de años que cada uno de los miembros del legislativo guatemaltecoha ejercido su cargo como representante público. Posteriormente,el artículo desarrolla un análisis de resultados que lleva a concluir queel sistema político guatemalteco no ha sido capaz de consolidarse comouna democracia liberal estable.

    This article evidences the rotation of existing élites in the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala during the seven legislatures that have taken place since the 1985 Constitution. The objective of this paper is to determine whether the Guatemalan political system has been able to establish a path towards political stability, and with it achieve democratic consolidation. To measure this process the article used as the theoretical framework the conceptual contribution developed by Leonardo Morlino. The text also indicates the research process implemented by the team. The aim of this investigative article is to illustrate the number of years that each of the members of the Guatemalan Congress has exercised as a public representative. The article develops an analysis of results which leads to the conclusion that the Guatemalan political system has not been able to establish itself as a stable liberal democracy.
