Landfills, which were very used after the 2nd World War, still play an important role in the wastes disposition. Nowadays, there are included new technologies to increase their yield, to reduce its pollutant capacity and once it is finished to make possible its recovery for other uses. this can be obtained through complex techniques, which make of the project and explotation of a landfill an activity in which different branches of engineering participate. The authors of this article explains us how geotechnics take part in this subject.
