La realización de esta investigación es pertinente y se justifica ya que lleva por finalidad analizar la articulación del sistema ferroviario colombiano con los puertos marítimos y fluviales del país, y poder determinar si de alguna manera está afectando la eficiencia del sistema de transporte de carga en los procesos logísticos de exportaciones e importaciones que se generan en el territorio nacional, de tal manera, que se pueda determinar al final, si la no existencia en un sistema de transporte de carga intermodal está afectando la productividad nacional frente los requerimientos de la economía mundial.

This research is pertinent and justified since its purpose is to analyze the articulation of the Colombian railway system with the maritime and fluvial ports of the country and to determine if it is in any way affecting the efficiency of the system of cargo transportation in Logistical processes of exports and imports that are generated in the national territory, so that it can be determined at the end, if the non-existence in an intermodal freight transport system is affecting national productivity against the requirements of the world economy.
