Le catalan comme langue étrangère dans l’enseignement supérieur en France: des bonnes racines et une excellente santé mais, quel avenir ?

    Our contribution proposes, firstly, a synthesis of the history of the teaching of Catalan in higher education in France. Secondly, it provides an overview of the current university training offer and the teaching staff that supports it. Finally, it considers the possible future of these studies, after highlighting some of the contradictions, problems and challenges facing the future of this teaching. To date, there have been only three reviews of the subject (Trenc, 2007; Berthelot, 2010 and Corrons, 2011), although many changes have occurred in the discipline. Thus, ten years after the last review, a new assessment is necessary. We recall that the teaching of Catalan belongs to two sections of the National Council of Universities (14th and 73rd sections); our article focuses on the 14th section: Romance Languages and Literatures.

    Notre contribution propose, dans un premier lieu, une synthèse sur l’histoire de l’enseignement du catalan dans l’éducation supérieure en France. Deuxièmement, elle dresse un état des lieux de l’offre de formation universitaire actuelle et du corps enseignant qui la soutient. Enfin, elle envisage un possible futur de ces études, après avoir fait émerger certaines contradictions, problèmes et défis qui se présentent face à l’avenir de cet enseignement. À ce jour, nous comptons seulement trois bilans sur la question (Trenc, 2007 ; Berthelot, 2010 et Corrons, 2011), bien que de nombreux changements soient survenus dans cette discipline. Ainsi, dix ans après le dernier bilan, un nouvel état des lieux s’impose. Nous rappelons que l’enseignement du catalan appartient à deux sections du Conseil National des Universités (14e et 73e sections) ; notre article se penche particulièrement sur la 14e section : Langues et littératures romanes.
