Flyash have peculiar characteristics in relation with conventional soils which allow some advantages and disadvantages when we use them as material to the building of landfills and other compacted and controlled fillings. The advantages are that it is a cheap material with unitary weight lower than most of soils and fewer compressibility. The main disadvantages are its variability, specially about its optimal compaction moisture and the easiness that the surfaces of the compacted materials have to corrade due to water or wind.
