Se analiza la iniciativa de la OMS de crear la Alianza Mundial para la Seguridad del Paciente con el lema Primero No Dañar. El reto global de la seguridad del paciente tiene como objetivo identificar los factores significativos del riesgo que sufren los pacientes que reciben asistencia sanitaria.
La infección asociada a la asistencia fue elegida como el Primer Reto Global para la Seguridad del Paciente, centrándose en el tema Cuidado Limpio es Cuidado Más Seguro. La cirugía más segura fue elegida como el segundo reto global con el tema La Cirugía Segura Salva Vidas.
Estas líneas se complementan en el área de participación de pacientes y usuarios con Pacientes por la Seguridad del Paciente, grupo liderado por pacientes constituidos en una red global cuya meta es la seguridad. Otro programa de esta línea es la Taxonomía que busca definir, armonizar y agrupar conceptos en una clasificación internacionalmente aceptada.
Tras analizar la relación establecida con la Joint Commission para el control de los proyectos de la alianza, se plantea la contribución de la enfermería mundial además de la contribución de España a este gran programa.

WHO initiative of creating the World Alliance for Patient Safety with the theme First do not Harm is being analyzed. The global patient safety challenge aims to identify the topics that cover major and significant aspects of risk to patients receiving health care.
Health care associated infection was chosen as the First Global Safety Challenge, focusing on Clean Care is Safer Care theme. Safe surgery was chosen as the Second Global Patient Safety Challenge with the theme Safe Surgery Saves Lives.
These guidelines are complemented in the area of patient and consumer involvement with Patients for Patient Safety which is a group led by patients in a global network to champion patient safety. Another Programme is the Taxonomy that aims to define, harmonize and group patient safety concepts into an internationally agreed classification.
After the analysis of the relationship with the Joint Commission as controller of the Alliance projects, the contribution of global nursing and the contribution of Spain to this important programme are being analyzed.
