Resumen de La traducción del Simple Past y el Present Perfect de inglés a español en dos artículos del New York Times: un estudio de caso

  Este trabajo es un estudio de caso sobre la traducción del Present Perfect y el Simple Past de inglés a español en dos artículos del New York Times. Al recabar los datos y analizarlos se consideraron las tres dimensiones en las que se despliega la temporalidad: el tiempo gramatical, la semántica léxica de los predicados y el aspecto gramatical, teniendo en cuenta que los patrones de interacción entre puntos de vista y tipos de situación varían dependiendo del idioma. Las conclusiones más interesantes sobre el Perfecto Compuesto se relacionan con el rasgo más destacado de su variación dialectal: el hecho de que se utilice o no como pasado perfectivo. Las conclusiones sobre el Simple Past/Perfecto Simple, en cambio, reafirman que es a nivel del Aspecto gramatical donde surgen las mayores variaciones entre lenguas

  This article is a case study on the translation of the Present Perfect and the Simple Past from English into Spanish in two articles from The New York Times. In doing so, the three dimensions in which temporality is expressed were considered: grammatical tense, lexical semantics of predicates, and grammatical aspect, bearing in mind that patterns of interaction between points of view and types of situation vary depending on the specific language. Regarding the sentences in the Perfecto Compuesto, the most interesting findings refer to the most salient feature of this tense’s dialectal variation in Spanish: whether it is used as a past perfective. The conclusions on the Simple Past/Perfecto Simple, on the other hand, refer to the fact that it is from the category of grammatical aspect that the most significant differences between languages arise.
