    This study aims to show some historical documents that the author used to write the novel The Nikolaidis (Proa, 2006). One of the most outstanding ones was the article entitled Η Ελληνικη παροικια της Μινόρκας («The Greek community in Menorca») signed by ΣΒΟΡΏΝΟΣ, Ν.Γ. (Svoronos N.G.), published in Athens in 1956. It became essential to the author to gain first-hand knowledge about the Greek community settled in Menorca during the first British occupation in the eighteenth century. It also provided key information on Mediterranean trade led by Greeks piloting Menorcan boats. All the information was based on reports sent by French consuls in Izmir, Chios and other Mediterranean cities to the French ambassador in Constantinople

    Aquest estudi vol mostrar alguns documents històrics que l’autor va utilit-zar per escriure la novel·la Els Nikolaidis (Proa, 2006) i, de manera especial, l’article intitulat Η Ελληνικη παροικια της Μινόρκας («la comunitat grega de Menorca», signat per ΣΒΟΡΏΝΟΣ, Ν.Γ. (Svoronos, N.G.), publicat a Atenes l’any 1956. Aquest article esdevé indispensable per conèixer de primera mà dades sobre la comunitat grega que s’instal·là a Menorca durant la primera dominació anglesa del segle XVIII, així com també sobre el comerç per la Medi-terrània fet amb vaixells menorquins pilotats per grecs. Tot a partir dels infor-mes enviats a l’ambaixador de França a Constantinoble pels cònsols francesos a Esmirna, Quios i d’altres ciutats mediterrànies.
