Resumen de Uso de termitero como refugio por Artibeus lituratus (Chiroptera Phyllostomidae)

Luis Arturo Hernández Mijangos

  • Abstract: The giant fruit-eating bat (Artibeus lituratus) is known to use a variety of roosts both in natural and man-made structures. Reported roosts for this species include caves, abandoned constructions, tunnels, bridges, mines, modified and unmodified leaves, and hollow trees. This bat appears to be opportunistic in relation to use of roosts. In this paper I report individuals of A. lituratus roosting inside a termite mud tube in Chiapas, Mexico, and make some observations on group composition.

Keywords: Artibeus lituratus, Chiapas, Chiroptera, roost.
