La enfermería debe realizar una evaluación integral y continua del paciente con el fin de detectar los signos que alertan sobre alteraciones en la estructura de la piel.
El factor común de estas lesiones será el reposo en cama, con lo que los tejidos del paciente se ven sometidos a una presión continua que puede provocar lesiones. La temprana y correcta diferenciación del paciente de riesgo será importante para poder prevenirlos y aplicar las medidas necesarias como el colchón antiescaras.
