En este artículo me propongo comprenderla necesidad la unión entre almay cuerpo en la jerarquía de seres quepropone Ralph Cudworth en The TrueIntellectual System (1678). Así se apreciaránlos distintos tipos de cuerpo y lasdiversas configuraciones de la sustanciainmaterial, que mostrará distintos gradosde consciencia que se pueden adquirir yla armonía que rige en la metafísica denuestro filósofo. Por último, intentarédar cuenta de consecuencias en el planopolítico en el marco de su filosofía.

In this paper my purpose is to understandthe necessity of the union betweensoul and body in Ralph Cudworth’s TheTrue Intellectual System (1678) hierarchyof beings. Thus, the different types ofbodies and configurations of immaterialsubstance will be appreciated, which willshow different grades of consciousnessthat can be acquire and the harmonythat rules in his metaphysics. At last, Iintend to present some political consequencesin his philosophy.
