Resumen de “La Mista” un cuento largo en la historia de Venezuela

  José Rafael Pocaterra, uno de los escritores más significativos de la literatura venezolana, nos relata en sus Cuentos grotescos (1922), las vicisitudes y penalidades que padeció junto al pueblo. En tal sentido, el objetivo general de esta investigación es resaltar el rol simbólico de su elocuente personaje Epaminondas del cuento “La mista”, un maestro de pueblo, como la representación más auténtica de las ilusiones no satisfechas del pueblo a lo largo de su historia, así pues, se busca demostrar su trascendencia en el imaginario colectivo. Por consiguiente, se da un recorrido por ciertos momentos históricos de Venezuela, siendo nuestro punto de partida el periodo colonial, el de independencia, el republicano agroexportador del siglo XIX y el republicano exportador de petróleo del siglo XX. Para disertar sobre estos períodos, desarrollamos una investigación de naturaleza documental, cuyos objetivos estuvieron enmarcados en una metodología cualitativa, cuya base teórica está fundamentada en los trabajos de Silva Luongo (2005) y Silva y Moncada (2009).

  José Rafael Pocaterra, one of the most significant writers of Venezuelan literature, tells us in his Cuentos grotescos (1922), the vicissitudes and hardships he suffered along with the people. In this sense, the general objective of this research is to highlight the symbolic role of his eloquent character Epaminondas of the story La mista, a small town teacher, as the most authentic representation of the unfulfilled illusions of the people throughout its history, thus, it seeks to demonstrate its transcendence in the collective imaginary. Therefore, a tour is given through certain historical moments of Venezuela, being our starting point the colonial period, the independence period, the republican agro-exporting period of the 19th century and the republican oil-exporting period of the 20th century. To discuss these periods, we developed a research of documentary nature, framed in a qualitative methodology, and theoretically framed on the works of Silva Luongo (2005) and Silva and Moncada (2009).
