    La obra del Liber Picatrix tiene sus orígenes en Al-Ándalus y en el fenómeno cultural de la Translatio Studiorum. Sin embargo no fue hasta el siglo XIII, época del rey Alfonso X, cuando la efervescencia de la Escuela de Traductores de Toledo le convertirá en uno de los libros de magia más famosos de la historia. Un grimorio medieval, cuyos procedimientos sobre la astrología, la alquimia e incluso la nigromancia, justificaron la cosmovisión del Rey Sabio y su lugar en el mundo, así como la fama que la ciudad de Toledo obtuvo como centro de aprendizaje de las artes mágicas.
