  • Resumen
    • Hospital Waste are characterised by the diversity of their components and by the variety of existing classifications. Moreover, according to whether a restrictive or permissive position is adopted, some hospital wastes are classified as hazardous waste, which require an appropriate treatment, or at the contrary, considered as urban waste and eliminated in landfills or urban incineration plants. On the other hand, the visual impact of hospital waste in the view of the general public tends to aggravate the perception of risk, which sometimes are non-existent, this phenomenon being still amplified by the media. The result of this situation is that an important number of methods, processes and equipment intended to the treatment of infectious waste appeared on the market. Taking into account the different perceptions of incurred risks and the complexity of the tender, the concerned establishments and authorities often do not know on which criteria they should base their choice.
