Resumen de Interacción GxE para peso post-destete en conejo de carne entre regímenes de alimentación ad libitum y restringida

  • The aim of this research was to estimate the effect of the interaction between the genotype and the feeding regime in order to know whether the selection for growth could be more effective by applying quantitative food rationing during fattening period than when animals are fed ad libitum. 2216 rabbits from Caldes line coming from 691 litters were distributed in collective cages assigned equally to both types of feeding regime, a total of 12777 individual weights were recorded. The kits of the same litter were equally distributed into both treatments ensuring that the kits of the same cage had a similar initial weight. For statistical analysis we used a two-trait random regression animal model to fit the weight of the animals during post-weaning growth under different diet as different characters, the independent variable in this random regression was the age of the animal. This model included the fixed effects of age, batch, order of birth and litter size, and the random effects of the intercept and slope for additive genetic, animal permanent, common litter and date of control effects. A Bayesian analysis was performed. Although estimates were very inaccurate, results could indicate that it exists an interaction between the genotype and the feeding regime basically due to a scale effect because of the difference in the additive variance under different conditions.
