    La presencia francesa en España durante los primeros siglos dela Reconquista fue muy importante en lo que hoy son las comunidades lindantes con el país vecino desde todos los aspectos:en el militar, en las tareas propiamente bélicas; en el religioso,por el gran número de obispos que proceden del otro lado delos Pirineos, e incluso desde el punto de vista de la repoblaciónde los territorios que iban siendo arrebatados al invasor musulmán. Por el contrario, apenas hay noticias de su aporte militar en la reconquista llevada a cabo inicialmente desde Asturiasy seguida por los reinos de León y de Castilla, tal vez por ladistancia geográfica y también por la falta de fronteras comuneshasta la unión de los reinos hispánicos. En Castilla, dejando a unlado la muy importante influencia religiosa a partir de Cluny, laaportación militar masiva francesa, entre comillas por el númerode efectivos, se limitará y circunscribirá a la guerra civil entrePedro I y su hermanastro Enrique II, contribución que en unosreinos y otros se irá extinguiendo poco a poco hasta quedarreducida en el siglo XV a meras participaciones de índole personal y puramente testimoniales.

    The French presence in Spain during the first centuries of theReconquest was very important in what are now the Communitiesbordering on the neighboring country from all aspects, beginning with the military in war tasks; in the religious field, a largenumber of bishops come from the other side of the Pyrenees,and even from the point of view of the repopulation of the territories that were being reconquested from the Muslim. On thecontrary, there is hardly any news of their military contributionin the reconquest carried out initially from Asturias and followedby the kingdoms of León and Castile, perhaps due to geographical distance and also due to the lack of common borders untilthe union of the Hispanic kingdoms. In Castile, leaving asidethe very important religious influence from Cluny, the massiveFrench military contribution, due to the number of troops, waslimited and circumscribed to the civil war between Pedro I andhis half-brother Enrique II. Contribution that in some kingdomsand others will be extinguished little by little until being reducedin the fifteenth century to participations of a personal natureand purely testimonial.
