Objetivo: La percepción de inseguridad es considerada como uno de los problemas másrelevantes en nuestra sociedad actual. De este modo, teniendo en cuenta los factoressituacionales que derivan de la inseguridad percibida, el presente estudio analiza lapercepción de inseguridad en el lugar de residencia, el estrés percibido y su relación conel miedo al delito de la población general. Método: Un total de 491 individuos (71.6%mujeres) con edades comprendidas entre los 18 y los 72 años respondieron a una medidade la percepción de inseguridad y del estrés percibido. Resultados: Los hallazgosmuestran que a pesar de que no existe una diferencia significativa entre el sexo y lapercepción de inseguridad, las mujeres perciben frecuentemente una seguridad menosbuena que los hombres, aunque en general, la seguridad percibida es buena. Si bien, enlo que respecta al miedo al delito existen diferencias significativas según el sexo en cuantoal tipo de delito que genera más temor a la población en el uso de los espacios públicosen la propia zona de residencia, fuera de ella u otra localidad. En este contexto, sonmayoría las mujeres que muestran un mayor nivel miedo percibido; y en concreto al delitode agresión sexual, frente a la mitad de los hombres, que temen por la posibilidad depoder un robo y de manera minoritaria manifiestan miedo a sufrir una agresión física.Conclusiones: Las diferencias encontradas entre el sexo; la percepción de inseguridad yel estrés percibido muestran que son las mujeres las que perciben una mayor inseguridaden el entorno en el que viven, así como, un mayor malestar subjetivo y una mayorinseguridad frente a factores que puedan surgir de manera incontrolable.
Objective: The perception of insecurity is considered done of the most relevant problemsin our current society. Thus, taking into account the situational factors that derive fromperceived insecurity, this study analyses the perception of insecurity in the place ofresidence, perceived stress and it relationship with fear of crime of the general population.Method: A total of 491 participants (71.6% females) with ages ranging from 18 to 72years old responded to a measurement of of the percepcption of insecurity and perceivedstress. Results: The finding shows that although there is no significant difference betweensex and the perception insecurity, women often perceive less got security tan men,although in general, perceived safety is good. Although, with regard to the fear of crime,there are significant differences according to sex in terms of the type of crime thatgenerates more fear to the population in the use of public spaces in the area of residenceitself, outside it or another locality. In this context, the majority of women show a higherlevel of perceived fear; and specifically to the crime of sexual assault, compared to halfof men, who fear for the possibility of being able to rob and in a minority way manifestfear of suffering a physical aggression. Conclusions: The differences found between sex;the perception of insecurity and perceived stress show that it is women who perceivegreater insecurity in the environment in which they live, as well as greater subjectivediscomfort and greater insecurity in the face of factors that may arise uncontrollably.
