Aeration Control in one wastewater treatment plant represents one of the most issues within the general targets to be accomplished in its normal maintenance process. There is no objection about the traditional aeration control trough this system, by fixing one predetermines set-point, it is possible not only to perform the control but also to save energy and, by other side, under certain conditions such as masked toxicity state, the tracking of this parameter can provide a complete confusion about the right criteria of controlling. The BM3 respirometry technology, by determining the biological activity through the on-line measurements of Loading -rate (kg BOD/kg MLVSS.d) and Toxicity associated with the values of dissolved oxygen (ppm), is able to establish one efficient method of aeration control, where no only the maximum energy saving would be possible but also any masking effect related with the activated sludge activity would be obviated.
