  • Resumen
    • Regulations on emissions for MSW incineration may vary according to location size and age of MSW incineration plant. There is, however, a trend to enact the same release limits for all types of facilities. The lowest limits for releases into air exist for: • HCl, HF and CO as 30 minute average in Austria; •for S02, N02 and Corg as one-hour average and particulate matter as 1-8 hour average in the Netherlands; • for heavy metals including cadmium and mercury as 0,5-2 hour average in Germany; • for PCDD/F even with differing time factor for measuring, Austria, Germany and the Nether lands can be considered as equal. Presently, Japan as well as the USA by far do not meet the European emissions standards. This mainly due to poor or no regulations for the emissions for HCl, NOx, heavy metals, and dioxin.
