Resumen de Absceso pulmonar: a propósito de un caso.

  El absceso pulmonar se define como un área circunscrita de pus o necrosis en el parénquima pulmonar causado por una infección microbiana, cuya etiopatogenia puede ser muy variada, al igual que la diversidad de microorganismos que pueden ocasionar esta entidad.

  Siempre se deben descartar otras infecciones a distancia que puedan haber ocasionado un embolismo séptico y el carcinoma broncopulmonar primario.

  Se presenta el caso clínico de un paciente de 83 años en la cual se plantea el absceso pulmonar como diagnóstico principal, con sospecha de carcinoma broncopulmonar subyacente. En muchas ocasiones, se trata de realizar las pruebas lo más rápidamente posible para tener el diagnóstico anatomopatológico, pero se debe tener mucho cuidado con la toma de biopsias si hay un proceso infeccioso de base, ya que uno de los grandes peligros es que el absceso se rompa o se abra al parénquima pulmonar o a la vía aérea.

  Lung abscess is defined as a circumscribed area of pus or necrosis in the lung parenchyma caused by a microbial infection, whose etiopathogenesis can be very varied, as well as the diversity of microorganisms that can cause this entity.

  Other distant infections that may have caused septic embolism and primary bronchopulmonary carcinoma must always be ruled out.

  The clinical case of an 83-year-old patient is presented, in which lung abscess is considered as the main diagnosis, with suspicion of underlying bronchopulmonary carcinoma. On many occasions, we have the necessity of doing the tests as fast as possible with the aim of having the anatomopathological diagnosis, but we have to be careful with the biopsies taken, especially if there is an underlying infectious process, since one of the great dangers is that the abscess ruptures or opens into the lung parenchyma or the airway.
