    El presente artículo tiene la intención de analizar los informes escritos por el jesuita novohispano Urbano Covarrubias, misionero del Gran Nayar, entre los años de 1725 y 1730, para comprender las estrategias pastorales de la Compañía de Jesús en el complejo proceso de la extirpación de las idolatrías locales, la concepción que se tenía sobre ellas y la supervivencia de las antiguas creencias entre la población reducida.

    This article intends to analyze the reports written by the jesuit Urbano Covarrubias, a missionary from Gran Nayar, between the years of 1725 and 1730, to understand the pastoral strategies of the Society of Jesus in the complex process of the extirpation of the local idolatries, the conception that was held about them and the survival of the old beliefs among the reduced population
