Resumen de À propos de quelques tintinnabula antiques des collections du Midi

This paper offers to show the relative multi-functionality of the ancient Roman bells (tintinnabulum) from a local limited corpus surveyed in several museums. After a presentation of the catalogue and summoning the literary and iconographic data linked to this archaeological artefact, we will question and present the various functions and uses of these instruments in ancient societies, especially the Roman one.

Cette étude propose de montrer la relative polyvalence des cloches romaines antiques (tintinnabulum) à partir d’un corpus régional circonscrit ayant fait l’objet de plusieurs enquêtes muséales. Après une présentation du catalogue et en convoquant les données littéraires et iconographiques liées à cet artefact archéologique, nous interrogeons et présenterons les différentes fonctions et usages de ces instruments dans les sociétés anciennes, en particulier dans la société romaine.
