    This article, whose object is women family farmers in the state of Rio de Janeiro, brings data from 411 women from 23 municipalities. The objective was to gather and analyze, in general terms, the average profile of these women farmers. The manuscript includes data on: age, marital status, education, number of children, connection with the property, type of production, family income, among others, which, combined with theoretical reflection, allowed us to build some reflections and extrapolations. At first, an overview of family farming in the state is presented, followed by an analysis of the data produced in the field. It was understood that to understand the family farmer is to think about the social processes in which they are inserted. Thus, their general profile is the result of all the transformations that have taken place throughout history, the conditions of their production, type of production, maternity, their marital status, their schooling, among others problematized throughout the text.

    Este artigo, que tem como objeto as mulheres agricultoras familiares do estado do Rio de Janeiro, traz dados de 411 mulheres, de 23 municípios. O objetivo foi reunir e analisar, em linhas gerais, o perfil médio dessas agricultoras. O manuscrito passa por dados de: idade, estado civil, escolaridade, número de filhos, vínculo com o imóvel, tipo de produção, renda familiar, dentre outros, que, aliados à reflexão teórica, permitiu-nos construir algumas reflexões e extrapolações. A princípio apresenta-se um panorama da agricultura familiar no estado, em seguida faz-se uma análise dos dados produzidos em campo. Entendeu-se que compreender a agricultora familiar é pensar os processos sociais nos quais estão inseridas. Assim, o perfil geral destas é resultado de todas as transformações ocorridas ao longo da história, das condições de sua produção, tipo de produção, da maternidade, seu estado civil, sua escolaridade, dentre outros problematizados ao longo do texto.
