    Cuando el joven Cardenal Wojtyla fue elegido Papa el 16 de octubre del 1978, su pri-mera encíclica se convirtió en la clave de comprensión para su pontificado: Redemp-tor hominis. Dirigió su mirada a los últimos años del siglo XX sobre la Iglesia y la “familia” humana contemporánea buscando hacer un reclamo para volver la mirada a Cristo redentor. Al poco tiempo de este “programa pontificio”, Juan Pablo II comienza el 5 de septiembre de 1979 hasta el 28 de noviembre de 1984, una serie de catequesis sobre “el valor divino del amor humano”. Estas surgen a modo de preparación del Sí-nodo de los obispos que se celebraría en Roma en 1980 y que llevaría por título “Sobre los deberes de la familia cristiana”, pues en ella –la familia– se puede reconocer la comunidad humana y cristiana que es, desde el principio, fundamental para la vida del ser humano, la Iglesia y el mundo. Al final de estas audiencias de los miércoles, el Papa Wojtyla afirmó que este fue un camino para exponer el amor humano en el plan divino por medio del anuncio de la redención y la sacramentalidad del matrimonio.

    When the young Cardinal Wojtyla was elected Pope on October 16th, 1978, his first en-cyclical became the key to understand his pontificate: Redemptor hominis. He turned his gaze to the last years of the twentieth century on the Church and the contemporary human “family” seeking to make a claim to return the gaze to Christ the Redeemer. Shortly after this “pontifical program,” John Paul II begins on September 5th, 1979 until November 28th, 1984, a series of catechesis on “the divine value of human love.” These arise as a way of preparing the Synod of Bishops that would be held in Rome in 1980 and that would be entitled “On the duties of the Christian family”, because in it - the family - you can recognize the human and Christian community that is, from the beginning, fundamental for the life of the human being, the Church and the world. At the end of these Wednesday hearings, Pope Wojtyla said that this was a way to expose human love in the divine plan through the announcement of the redemption and the sacramentality of marriage.
