Resumen de Estabilización e inertización de residuos orgánicos mediante granulación con sepiolita

Félix Antonio López Gómez, Aurora López Delgado

  • Cement is currently used in stabilisation or/and solidification processes of industrial wastes. Problems arise when organic wastes have to be inertised because these kind of wastes influence negatively on the hydration process of the cement. Procedures bases on the utilisation of lime and clays mixed with cement have been developed to obtain monolithic solids with a high mechanical resistance and low leacheability In this work, the use of sepiolite was studied in order to inertise several industrial organic wastes from different sources: paint and liquid detergent industries, out-of-date raw materials from cosmetic factories, sludges from washing operations of tanks which contained chlorinated hydrocarbons, inks, paints and others. Physic-chemical characteristics of final inertised products were studied. The EPA TCLP test and biolurniniscence assays were performed to determine the toxicity of the leachates. COD values were also determined. Finally, the energy-from inertised wastes were determined in order to evaluate their utilisation as briquettes.
